Often considered a weed, this velvety soft plant known as mullein boasts a plethora of medicinal uses, most notably for the treatment of respiratory ailments. Its leaves can also be used as bandages and toilet paper when in the field. If left undisturbed, mullein will grow an eight to ten foot stalk bursting with compact bouquets of yellow flowers. This plant began my journey into exploring society's overuse of the word "weeds" and our toxic war against them.
